Ready or Not, ACA forms are coming January 2016

Here’s what to expect: The form 1095-C is a new year-end statement required under the Affordable Care Act.

Why should you care: You will need this form to prepare your 2015 taxes. As a taxpayer, you are required to verify, on your annual federal tax return, that you had minimum essential health coverage.

Be on the lookout: Watch for the form in your mailbox in January 2016. Once you have the form 1095-C in hand, transfer that information to your tax return, much like you do with your W-2. This form should be shred with tax preparers and retained with other tax documents.
